In order to give yourself the best chance of a perfect race you’ll need to know the course inside out. In this video we’re going to be explaining how to do a pre race course recce. Subscribe to GTN: http://gtn.io/SubscribetoGTN Check out the GTN Shop: http://gtn.io/d0 Make the most of what is available to you when it comes to a course recce. Look at the map the event provide either online or in your entry pack. This isn’t always that clear so check it against google maps with the satellite mode or even an OS map so you can check the contours. Talking of contours if you can look at the profile and the numbers for altitude, sometimes on a short course it can look more daunting than it actually is or vice versa. Don’t forget to check how many loops and the scale of the map too. Beyond this, try and speak to locals who might be aware of the route or even better, fellow athletes who’ve raced it before. Also, make sure you attend the race briefing, especially if doing a race for the first time. Having said all of that, you can’t beat actually getting out on the course and seeing it for yourself!
