The Ironman World Championship record has just been smashed by Patrick Lange! We thought it might be impossible to go sub-8 hours in Kona, here is what we thought after. Well, Patrick Lange has just made us eat our words. In fact, he smashed it, and this is how he did it: Swim 50:37 Bike 4:16.05” Run 2:41.31” Total 7:52.39” breaking it by 8.01” And to make today even more impressive, the former world record was broken by all three podium finishers. Second place finisher Bart Aernots also smashed the 8-hour barrier with at time 7.56.41”.
